I would like further clarification on my intended use of ditra and suntouch heating pad over a plywood floor.

Whether you use ditra xl 1 4 inch hardibacker or whatever is up to you.

In general we don t recommend the use of modified thin set mortars to set tile over the membranes because these mortars must air dry to cure properly.
Since ditra heat membrane is impervious it does not deprive the mortar of its moisture.
This allows the cement to properly hydrate resulting in a strong dense bond coat.
The thin set will squish down to maybe 1 16 using the proper trowel you also need to factor in the thickness of the tile i used the regular ditra to match my 3 4 hardwood my tile was slightly thicker than usual i used a 3 4 notched trowel and also back buttered my tiles to give some extra height and of course to ensure good coverage contact.
